Prefco Distribution, LLC is a service-oriented refrigerated/frozen distribution company which services the independent grocery stores and restaurants throughout Southwest Texas. At Prefco, we distribute boxed beef, pork, poultry, cheese, seafood, and a variety of products. In addition, we offer a full service cold storage facility complete with scanning, inventory control and product shipments. We maintain a full fleet of refrigerated trucks including bobtails and semi-trailers.
Our history is strong as Prefco has been family owned and operated for over 40 years. Founded in 1941 by Hans and Erna Pauly, Pauly Packing Company- and Blue Ribbon Packing Company-as it was known was a regional packer with full slaughter facilities.
In 1986, after closing the packing plant, Prefco was founded by Franklin Roth and Allen Pauly, son-in-law and son, respectively, of the Pauly’s. Sold to Atlantic Premium Brands in 1996, Blue Ribbon thrived and was bought back in March of 2004 by a group of investors including Franklin Roth, Allen Pauly and Colorado Boxed Beef Company.
Barry Glauben who has been with Prefco for 17 years, was named President of Prefco Distribution and vows to maintain both the excellent service and quality levels that have made Prefco famous.
